“Yeah, Whatever”.  I thought this was an adorable shot of Rush.  Her expression is her!  I bought I shirt with this photo on it and of course the caption!  And on the back it says “Feel The Rush”

2008 April 16 Rush Injury

Injury1 Injury2Injury3 Injury4

What an exciting day! Rush wasnt acting right, seemed like she was having a difficult time getting up or down and she seemed ouchey around her tummy. I got her right into the vet who took an xray and ruled out hips or back. They said they felt she had an obstruction and they should do emergency exploratory surgery. I had her to the vet by 12:00 - they had her in surgery by 1:30 and I had her home by 4:30. What a whirl wind that was! They found a teeny, tiny piece of purple plastic, with rough edges all around in her intestine. It was so ragged that it couldnt pass through. The piece was the size of my pinky fingernail but it caused her intestines to fold like an organ (sp). They said that the suture in the intestine was very small so that was good - what they failed to tell me was that the suture in her belly was HUGE!!!! I almost passed out! But they were pretty pink sutures, does that make it better? Ive attached some photos (not for the faint of stomach),. They told me to keep Rush quiet for a couple weeks…. I only succeeded in keeping her quiet for a couple hours. Bad mom. What can you do? I certainly crated her as long as I could, but she cant live in a crate! I told everyone that if they felt they could do a better job keeping her quiet they were welcome to her! NO TAKERS! What a surprise. Anyway, she made it through. After 10 days I laid her on her back and took all the stitches out (16 or more I think). She never blinked an eye or moved - didnt even have to ask hubby to hold her. I was so proud of her. :) Rush may be a wild girl (you can tell from previous posts), but she is darn well-behaved. I love this dog.

2008 April 15 - What Rush Has Been Up To

001blog.jpg 004blog.jpg002blog.jpg009blog3.jpg

What has Rush been up to????? Well , mostly destruction! She pulls the liners out of shoes, eats the tabs off the back of shoes, grabs anything and everything she can to chew. She is great though for sleeping or my favorite - taking naps. She lays down and doesnt move until you are ready.

OH!! She has finally mastered the “arms” command for jumping into my arms. She will of course only do it when SHE wants, with the exception of mealtime - do it or skip your meal… she does enjoy it though usually, and will jump into your arms at will and when you least expect it. She has knocked me back, my husband and knocked my son over. :) She still feels that her sister (my human daughter) is her favorite chew toy. I know, its not good and I know better but she is 13 she can fend for herself :)

Our tricks are going well. Rush is working on “sit up” and “stand up”. Her strength is not good but its getting better. Her retrieving is getting really good! She now carries toys around the house and will steal from brother Ice all the time. My husband has been teaching her frisbee, and thats going well… so there is still hope for the little devil … lovingly said of course :) Her best trick is “bang” - she must be shot gangster style though, a regular shooting never kills her. :) Shes a little dramatic though (would you expect any less)?

The pictures of of Rush drinking my Chai Tea - a dog after my own heart! Also, Rush with my Shepherd Ember. I need some of the Rush puppy in the lions mouth. She likes to lick Embers mouth until Ember opens up, then Rush sticks her entire snout in Embers mouth… its quite humerous. The center photo is my little book ends photo - Ice and Rush in their favorite couch.
